Hello! I’m Leah. Oftentimes kids and teen’s feelings are invalidated or told that what they are experiencing is “not a big deal.” That can be very frustrating, especially as a teen! My goal as a clinical social worker is to help people, no matter their age, work through their trauma, anxieties, and life struggles. I understand how trauma and life experiences can shape a child or teen’s life which is why I am so passionate about helping youth through these vulnerable years. Growing up with constant access to tech and social media, especially during unprecedented times, is very tough! I want to support you through it all.
I ensure that my clients feel validated and empower them to make positive changes in their life. My specialty lies in working with both young children and adolescents; with a focus on anxiety, behavioral issues, emotion regulation, and improving low self-esteem. My therapeutic approach is person centered, with a focus on self-determination, mindfulness, and commitment. I utilize evidence-based practices such as CBT, motivational interviewing, and group therapy to aid in positive and meaningful change.
My educational background consists of a Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Oakland University. Choosing to start therapy is no easy feat, but with the right therapist it can be the best experience and decision you’ll ever make!
