Hey, I’m Kelley!
I’m Kelley Virkus, and I’m so excited to be joining the Therapyology crew as a clinical intern!
I’m currently getting my Master of Social Work at Wayne State University, where I’m training to
become a therapist. But my path here wasn’t exactly a straight line—I actually started out with a
degree in business and a minor in Anthropology. Turns out, the thing I’ve always been most
interested in isn’t business…it’s people.
Why do we think the way we do? Why can one text completely change our mood? Why are
some relationships easy and others so complicated? How do our families, friendships,
experiences, and the world around us shape who we become? I could nerd out about this stuff
all day.
I especially love working with teens and young adults who are navigating the very real (and
sometimes very messy) parts of growing up—friendships, family, school stress, relationships,
confidence, identity, expectations, big emotions, life changes, and the constant pressure to
somehow have it all figured out.
Spoiler alert: You don’t have to have it all figured out.
I’m also a self-proclaimed research nerd and love learning about what’s happening in the
mental health world—then figuring out how to turn all that science and therapist-speak into things
that are actually useful in real life.
My goal is for therapy to feel less like, “So…how does that make you feel?” and more like a real
conversation with someone who genuinely wants to understand you. No judgment. No pressure
to say the “right” thing. No pretending everything is fine when it definitely isn’t.
At Therapyology, I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and developing my own style as a
therapist—one that’s warm, curious, collaborative, evidence-based, and, most importantly,
human.
Because sometimes understanding yourself a little better can make everything else feel a whole
lot more manageable.
Can’t wait to meet you!
