Hello! I’m Olivia and I’m excited to be joining the Therapyology team as I complete my field placement for my Masters in Social Work through Wayne State University. The last few years all of us have experienced a plethora of change; which can also bring along anxiety and isolation. As a social worker in training, it is my goal to help others navigate times of instability by empowering them to discover their strengths and how those strengths can develop into healthy coping skills. I am a big proponent of play therapy when working with kids and teens. Utilizing play therapy helps to build a strong therapeutic relationship and is important to allow kids and teens to feel safe and supported.
After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Oakland University, I gained valuable experience in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy as a Behavior Technician as well as providing case management for children with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families. I have experience working with kids and teens in different settings which has always sparked my interest in pursuing the field of social work. My passions lie in challenging the biases and stigma surrounding mental health and how that affects the next generation of kids today.
